The Holidays October 24, 2007

Hello dearest family.  We should start thinking about holiday get-together plans, its coming up sooner than we think!  As far as Thanksgiving goes, I will have just gotten back from Austin, TX (for a wedding) so I will spend Thanksgiving in Tucson, possibly with dad.  I know mom wants to make a 25 pound turkey and a 5-course meal for everyone, so let her know who can make it!

As for Christmas, mom and dad will of course be in California, leaving on the 24th, so a get-together the previous weekend – sometime within Thursday 20th thru Sunday 23rd – would probably work well.  Start thinking about it and let everyone know what you think!

B-Day and back from MIA September 16, 2007

 

Hey family,

It’s been so long since I’ve had time to look at this that I just wanted to say hi to everyone My research report (due Aug. 31st) is so close to being done! As in, we (adviser and I) are turning it in sometime Monday. Today (yes, Sunday) we are meeting to go over the finishing touches. I can’t wait to sleep well again … which reminds me of a funny story.

A week ago I was helping a student that I’m TAing (in the Math Department), and she kept asking me if I’m “ok” and telling me “you seem different/weird lately.” She wasn’t satisfied with my “yes, I’m ok” response until I told her how I was working on a past due report, therefore alot of stress and alot of missed sleep. So when she finally got my state of mind, and figured out I was telling the truth, she says, “Oh, I thought you were hungover or something.” So I had to explain my “loopy behavior” to my classes. Many funny and not-so-funny stories from my TA experience so far.

And….. Happy Birthday to Kurt (tomorrow; Monday)!!!! I’ll let you guess what he wants for his B-Day, and the one who guesses first gets a big hug in one week Ok, so you all get big hugs in a week! Here’s a hint: I’m buying the “extra tools and parts” for his B-Day needed to install this “thing.”

September Visit August 22, 2007

Just to let everyone know, I purchased my plane tickets for my September visit for Grandma’s b-day party.  I’m flying into KC on Thursday, and Greg and I will drive out to Illinois on Friday or Saturday morning.  Maybe we can plan a get together with Kris’s family on Saturday late afternoon/evening?  Greg and I will leave Monday morning and I fly back on Tuesday.  Its to short of a trip unfortunately, but I’m glad to be able to see everyone at least briefly before the winter holidays!

I started my TA duties this week and I’m way busier that I imagined I would be.  I’m hoping things will be less stressful after my big presentation tomorrow, but something else always comes up!  Hope everyone is having a great week!

The Fourth of July July 1, 2007

Dad and I are going to have a barbeque on the Fourth. All of you in the area – Kris and family, are invited. We still don’t know exactly what time we will be eating, but it will be probably mid to late afternoon. 3-ish. Dad has to let me know when the bike ride will be finished. We are going to invite GG(great grandma), but haven’t as yet. Kurt and Rachel will be with us! A fun time will be had by all! Sorry Becky and Greg won’t be here. We’ll miss you.
