The Holidays October 24, 2007

Hello dearest family.  We should start thinking about holiday get-together plans, its coming up sooner than we think!  As far as Thanksgiving goes, I will have just gotten back from Austin, TX (for a wedding) so I will spend Thanksgiving in Tucson, possibly with dad.  I know mom wants to make a 25 pound turkey and a 5-course meal for everyone, so let her know who can make it!

As for Christmas, mom and dad will of course be in California, leaving on the 24th, so a get-together the previous weekend – sometime within Thursday 20th thru Sunday 23rd – would probably work well.  Start thinking about it and let everyone know what you think!

    Thanksgiving:
    - My mom’s side of the family is still deciding where it will be held in KC this year.
    - Kurt is going to the KU vs. MU game at Arrowhead on that Saturday with my dad, Alex, and Uncle John (aka Buzz). It will either start @ 2:30pm or 7:00pm.
    - Kurt is going to call the parents tonight, to discuss more details… well, he’s been saying that all week :)

    Christmas:
    - I’m sure sometime during the Thursday 20th thru Sunday 23rd we (K&R) will be ready for a St. Louis family get-together :) As time gets closer, we will know more.

That’s all I know about that at the moment…. Hope all of you are doing well :)

Just a few random notes from me for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It sounds like we’ll be headed out to KC for Thanksgiving on Tuesday night. We’d like to have a get-together at the Smiths’ (Jennifer’s mom and dad) for breakfast Thursday morning say around 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM to celebrate Jon’s birthday since his birthday is on Thanksgiving this year. Also, we will be heading to Aunt Mo and Uncle John’s afterwards for the rest of the day.

As for Christmas, I wonder if we can do Secret Santa again this year. Becky, didn’t you organize this last year? Can you do so again this year?

Sure, I have nothing better to do! You know, between the 5 papers I’m working on, my committee meeting, my trip to Austin, blah blah blah. Just kidding, I’d love to. Dad and I will do it when he’s out here and tell everyone soon after Thanksgiving. I’m so sad I won’t be there for Thanksgiving and yet another nephew’s b-day! Hope its great!

Yeah, blah blah blah blah blah still in school blah blah blah no kids blah blah blah no real job blah blah blah blogging 3 hours a day blah blah blah :) Anyway…. thanks for organizing the secret santa thing! We really wish you could be here for Jon’s b-day and Thanksgiving.. we’ll take lots of pictures for you. I’m sure you’ll have fun in Austin.

Rachel, if it makes you feel any better, I’ve never been to Austin or Greece either.
    Love, Kris

    Hey Kris and Jennifer,

I remember last year you invited my parents (Steve and Becky) over for Jon’s B-Day, but they already had plans and couldn’t come. Would my parent’s still be invited? (I assume this is a “yes”, but I want to make sure my assumption is true.) … if I let them know now, there is a better chance of them coming. Oh, my brother, Alex, will be in-town too. Let me know your thoughts. They would understand if it would be too many people.

    Hi Rachel,
Yes, absolutely your parents and Alex are invited over for Jon’s birthday at Jennifer’s parents’ house. That would be great if they can come. We all look forward to seeing them and you and Kurt Thursday morning.

    Kris
