I’ve arrived! September 25, 2007
Thanks to Becky for helping to get me fully connected to the blogosphere. Though it was too brief, we really enjoyed seeing everyone this past weekend.

Back in the Desert September 25, 2007
Hello- It was so nice to see everyone this past weekend. I am back in the desert, safe and sound and soon to be stressed out no doubt. I came straight home from the airport to check on Sophie. She had left me a few puke-piles in retribution for being left alone for 5 days, but otherwise she is healthy. I thought I’d give myself an hour at home before going in to work this afternoon. Its amazing how quickly the vacation feeling can fade away. Hope everyone is well and having a good week!
much love, B
B-Day and back from MIA September 16, 2007
Hey family,
It’s been so long since I’ve had time to look at this that I just wanted to say hi to everyone
My research report (due Aug. 31st) is so close to being done! As in, we (adviser and I) are turning it in sometime Monday. Today (yes, Sunday) we are meeting to go over the finishing touches. I can’t wait to sleep well again
… which reminds me of a funny story.
A week ago I was helping a student that I’m TAing (in the Math Department), and she kept asking me if I’m “ok” and telling me “you seem different/weird lately.” She wasn’t satisfied with my “yes, I’m ok” response until I told her how I was working on a past due report, therefore alot of stress and alot of missed sleep. So when she finally got my state of mind, and figured out I was telling the truth, she says, “Oh, I thought you were hungover or something.” So I had to explain my “loopy behavior” to my classes. Many funny and not-so-funny stories from my TA experience so far.
And….. Happy Birthday to Kurt (tomorrow; Monday)!!!! I’ll let you guess what he wants for his B-Day, and the one who guesses first gets a big hug in one week
Ok, so you all get big hugs in a week! Here’s a hint: I’m buying the “extra tools and parts” for his B-Day needed to install this “thing.”
We (Kurt and I, this time) can’t wait to see all of you next Sunday! Hope all is well! Kris, welcome to the blogging world ![]()
Love, Rachel (and Kurt)
P.S. – I wrote more of an update about my Grandma and about my stress lately on the other blog.
Cookies September 8, 2007
Kris,
Welcome to the blog. Hope we see an entry from you from time to time. About the cookies… Becky and I are both doing weight watchers. Unfortunately, we would have to use up too many precious points on those wonderful cookies. But I’m sure they’re great.

Another Recipe, more roasted eggplant September 3, 2007
Hello again to the ladies. I don’t know what it is this summer, but I’ve been really into trying to find uses for roasted eggplant. Maybe its because the eggplants have looked really good in the store. I don’t know. But I made up a nice recipe for soup with roasted eggplant. This would probably be better on a cool winter evening, but I’d have to wait until January for that here, so what the hay. And as far as all the creativity in the kitchen goes, what can I say, its a nice alternative to thinking about the lab!
And on a side note, I’ve discovered that you can freeze the pureed roasted eggplant in a zip-top storage bag, just make sure to remove all the air from the bag first. Then you can just thaw it, snip the corner and squeeze it out when you’re ready to use it!
I also calculated the points value for the soup and its only 22 total for 4-6 servings, not bad. I’ll put the recipe after the jump. Let me know if you try it or have any suggestions!
I think I’ll also post the recipe on the Becky-Greg blog.
